New Beginings

Just a few nights ago there were freeze warnings and advisories in neighboring more inland counties. Fall arrives officially just days after this was written. If those are not good signs of the beginning of a new snowmobile season, then what is.

With the arrival of fall comes the arrival of work bees, fundraising, groomer preparation, trail preparation and snowmobile meetings.

Meetings resumed August 15 as scheduled and work has begun at the meetings and outside the meetings on subjects mentioned above. One of the groomers has spent the summer at Hayes’ Performance for repairs and preparation, and talks with landowners have begun for current and new trails.

Anyone interested in working on the groomer at Hayes’ just stop in or call during his business hours and see what you can do to pitch in. If you are interested in trail development or maintenance contact Frank or Chuck. If nothing else sell tickets and attend meetings to help us move into the future.

Another new beginning that comes to mind is new riders and the snowmobile safety course led by Chuck at the Corry Hi-Ed building on November 10, 2007 was a huge success, 30 people attended.

WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING INTO THE FEASIBILITY OF BECOMING A TRAIL PRODUCING CLUB BELONGING TO THE NYSSA. THIS WOULD MEAN YOUR TCSB MEMBERSHIP WOULD GET YOU A VOUCHER FROM US TO GET REDUCED NY REGISTRATION. WE ARE UNSURE IF THIS WILL BE POSSIBLE BUT IT WOULD BE NICE AND INCREASE OUR MEMBERSHIP A GOOD BIT I BELIEVE. RATHER THAN SENDING MORE MONEY TO NY A PA RESIDENT COULD JOIN TCSB FOR THE VOUCHER AND THIS SHOULD BE ENTICING SINCE OUR MEMBERSHIP FEES ARE LOWER THAN MOST. NOT THAT YOU SHOULDN’T JOIN ALL CLUBS WHERE YOU RIDE IT WOULD JUST BE NICE TO GIVE ONE BACK TO NY. THEY ARE WHY WE HAVE TO REGISTER SLEDS THERE. THERE MEMBERSHIP NUMBERS WENT WAY UP IN NY DUE TO THE NEW LAW AND THAT IS GOOD BUT I FEAR IT WILL HURT OUR NUMBERS AND THAT IS NOT SO GOOD.

Groomer and Grant Updates

OVER THE SUMMER A GRANT AMENDMENT WAS SENT TO DCNR TO AMEND THE GRANT WE CURRENTLY HAVE. WE ARE REQUESTING AN INCREASE IN THE AMOUNT OF THE GRANT TO PURCHASE A MORE SUITABLE GROOMER THAN WE HAD ORIGINALLY SPEC’D OUT. AT THIS POINT WE HEAR THE STATE HAS APPROVED THEIR END AND SHOULD RECIEVE OUR MONEY IN JANUARY. WE ALSO PUT A DOWN PAYMENT ON THE UTV. YOUR ASSISTANCE WITH PREPARING THE OLD GROOMERS FOR THE SEASON WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. AS MENTIONED EARLIER ONE GROOMER IS CURRENTLY AT HAYES’ AND EAGERLY AWAITING YOUR ARRIVAL TO BRING IT UP TO ITS FORMER GLORY. THE OTHER IS STILL IN STORAGE AND SHOULD BE BEING MOVED SOON TO BEGIN ITS PREPARATION. THIS WILL MOST LIKELY BE DONE AT MUNSEE EXCAVATION’S FACLILTY BEHIND CORRY LUMBER.

IF YOU CAN BE OF ANY ASSISTANCE PLEASE DO SO. THE GUYS WORKING ON THEM ARE GETTING BURNED OUT AND SOME FRESH BLOOD IS NEEDED.
